That's right. Hello world.
I've spent the past couple of decades in Iowa. First because my family moved to Cedar Rapids after my dad decided he'd had enough of Texas. Second because, well because it's quite hard to leave. Say what you want about the American Midwest, it is comfy.
But this is 2017, and the world moves on. I'm off to see a bit of it.
Specifically, I'm off to Naples, Italy where I'll be attending the inaugural class of Building Beauty, a program based in the Suror Benincasa University. We will be growing food, building (beauty) with our own two hands (I'm told this includes cutting stone from the same hill the university was quarried from, back when it was a monastery), and learning how to create generative communities. All on a hill, overlooking the Bay of Naples and Mount Vesuvius herself.
If it sounds ridiculous and grand that's because it is.
Anyway, this is my first foray into the world beyond. Never left the United States before.
You can find me on Instagram (bryan.mock), twitter (@bmock), and Facebook, though i usually reserve that for updating family and friends.
Fallow Space is where I'll be chronicling my time abroad in a longer format.
Looking fforward to the next few months. It promises to be quite intense
